2 WCAG 2.0: A closer look

This section of the Guide provides:

  • an overview of each of the WCAG principles, using plain language where possible;
  • examples of the application of the principles;
  • and links to available resources.

Discussion starts at the principle level, followed by a detailed description of each of the guidelines associated with the principle. Each section concludes with a brief summary of the technical requirements necessary to meet the Level A and AA success criteria.

It is important to recognize what this Guide will not describe the detailed programming techniques necessary to create accessible web content to meet the success criteria... those are well covered by other resources, for which links are provided.

If you don't have the time to read this entire Guide, at the very least you should read the first part of Sections 2.1 through 2.4. These provide a general understanding of the four basic WCAG principles and give context to everything that follows.
